Refreshes

Roar refreshes tracked posts daily, and older posts less often.

Last updated

Roar updates tracked posts automatically. Each refresh records a post's current views, likes, comments, shares, and saves as a snapshot, and Roar uses those snapshots to chart growth over time.

Schedule#

Roar runs a refresh every day. How often a given post is included depends on its age:

Post ageRefreshed
Under 7 daysEvery refresh
7 to 30 daysDaily
30 to 365 daysEvery 7 days
Over 365 daysEvery 30 days

Age is counted from the post's publish date, not the date you started tracking it. This is called scrape decay.

If a post's views grow more than 25% between refreshes, it's refreshed every time again, regardless of age.

Hover over the refresh indicator in the app's header to see Latest post snapshot, the time of your workspace's most recent data.

Scrape decay settings#

Scrape decay is on by default. Posts stay tracked and nothing is deleted.

  • Workspace: Settings → Workspace → Scrape decay. Only owners can change it.
  • Campaign: edit the campaign and set Scrape decay to on, off, or Use workspace setting. The campaign setting overrides the workspace setting.

Turn it off for campaigns where older posts need current numbers, such as an evergreen program you report on weekly.

Boosting a campaign#

Boosting gives a campaign extra refreshes on top of the daily refresh.

  1. Open Campaigns.
  2. Open the menu on the campaign's row and choose Boost Campaign.

A boosted campaign refreshes all of its posts, ignoring scrape decay. Each extra refresh uses one boost pull (6,000 a month on Individual, 12,000 on Pro). Settings → Usage & Billing shows how many you've used. Choose Remove Boost from the same menu to stop.

Posts that stop updating#

If a post is missing from three refreshes in a row, usually because it was deleted, made private, or not returned by the platform, Roar stops tracking it. Its history is kept, and you can turn tracking back on with its switch on the Posts tab.

Paused posts, groups, and campaigns aren't refreshed. See Track posts.

A refresh never moves posts between campaigns or groups, changes tags or spend, or deletes posts.
